Mt Soledad Sea (LJ Village) to Summit Hike

How about a hike up our own beautiful Mount Soledad, from village to cross and back?  Mount Soledad has been around for about 50 million years (the Eocene Epoch), but you may not have gotten around yet to hiking up it all the way from sea (LJ village) to summit.  This is a great hike to get a little exercise and enjoy some of our spectacular views.  It takes about an hour up and an hour down (OK to take it easy and take a just a little longer), with different winding routes that provide a great chance to slow down and look at some of the beautiful homes and views.  And at 822 feet to the peak it’s a pretty good workout.  About a 5-mile round trip.  This is an interesting route that is low on traffic and high on views, but do remember always to take care and caution of auto traffic.

The hike starts at (and returns to) the corner of Olivet and Exchange just east of Torrey Pines Road in the village.  A map route will be provided.  This hike is of medium difficulty, mostly on paved surfaces but of course will have you walking up and down some fairly steep streets.  As you start back down the hill to get from Via Casa Alta to Upper Hillside Drive, there is a short section of road that is gated off for auto traffic, but you can get through the small side gates that are open for walkers.

Remember to take enough water and sunscreen.  There should be no problem with parking Olivet or Virginia Way at the start/end point.  For further information contact Paul Cohen -  Paul@creatiflicensing.com
