Interest Groups Interest groups are led by members who volunteer to share their knowledge, passion, and interests with our membership, and span a broad spectrum of activities and venues including restaurants, theaters, neighborhoods, public parks, trails, and private homes. ARTS GROUP - Periodic visits to museums, galleries, and collections. | BOCCE– For members interested in learning how to play bocce ball and master the fundamentals. The court is located at the La Jolla Recreational Center. | BOOK GROUPS - We currently have 4 different book groups that meet each month. For example, one focuses on historical fiction, another is explicitly set up to be co-ed. | COFFEE IN THE VILLAGE - Meets the second Friday of every month at 10:00 am to promote friendship and goodwill among Newcomers. Open to the public. |
CONVERSATIONAL FRENCH – Meets on the third Tuesday of the month to converse only in French, discuss French literature as well. | CRITICS' CHOICE – Meets on the second Monday of each month. Grab your popcorn, get comfy, see the movie, then enjoy a lively discussion. | GOLF – Tee

Bay Golf Course for nine-hole rounds. This activity encourages people
with various abilities to play with different members, promoting
fun plus post-game socializing. | HAPPY HOUR AROUND TOWN - Offers the opportunity to socialize with fellow LJNC members at different restaurants and enjoy Happy Hour prices on food and/or drinks. Meets once a month during selected restaurants' Happy Hours. |
HIKING - Meets usually once a month to explore San Diego's various hiking spots that vary from easy to moderate. In addition to trail hiking, this group also has urban hikes in various San Diego neighborhoods, e.g. Kensington, North Park, Hillcrest, etc. | MAH JONGG – Meets every Thursday at 1:30 pm at a member's home. | OUT TO LUNCH - Meets monthly on the second Thursday at 11:30 am at a selected restaurant. | POKER – Meets the third Monday of every month at 1:00 pm at a member's home. This is a friendly "dealer's choice" game. |
SATURDAY MORNING WALKERS - Meets two times a month at 9:30 am for walks on Saturday mornings at various locations in and around La Jolla. This is open to the public. | SLO-MO PUTT PUTT - Play minature golf on the second Wednesday every other month. | THEATER GROUP – "Let's go to the theater" - meets at selected local theaters. | WALL STREET MONTH - This investment discussion group meets monthly on the second Tuesday at 2:00 pm on Zoom. We welcome all members to bring their ideas, opinions, and to share information about the stock market and investing. |
WEDNESDAY EVENING AT THE LOT - Meets the first Wednesday of each month to see a movie and socialize at THE LOT on Fay Ave. Participants buy their own tickets online (at a discounted price), and enjoy Happy Hour appetizers and beverages as a group before the movie. | WINE CLUB - A very popular gathering which meets several times a year to experience different styles of wines along with small bites or desserts at a selected location. |
